How to enable Japanese support on WindowsXP English version

Abstract

In order to enable Japanese support in WindowsXP, you need to install the character set conversion table for Japanese, Japanese fonts, Japanese IME.

Procedure

  1. Open Control Panel - “Regional and Language Options.”
  2. Click “Language” Tab - “Install files for East Asian languages.”
  3. Click “Advanced” tab - Enable all check boxes that have “Japanese” in label (Code page coversion tables).
  4. Select “Japanese” on the pulldown box in “Language for non-Unicode programs” section.
  5. Restart the computer.
